  <title>Buggy Racing Tournament</title>
  <link>http://thereracing.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=6</link>
  <description>Scheduled for August 19, 2006 5 pm - 9:30 pm EST (as needed)

ENTRY FEE: 500 T$ (All monies paid in will be paid back out)

Some may be wondering why the entry fee. It serves a couple purposes. The first is it adds a little bit of pressure to the racers in the tournament as you&#039;re essentially betting on yourself to win. The second is that it filters out the serious racers.

LOCATION: Grass Valley

SIGNUPS: If you&#039;re interested in signing up, the tournament will commence on Saturday, August 19, 2006. The actual tournament will start around 6 pm, however, there will be a final signup and track setup event at 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm followed by 3 qualifying heats that will determine the seeds for the tournament. You can signup ahead of time by paying the entry fee and signing up in the thread here. We will be limiting the number of signups to 24. After the first 24 people have signed up, we will keep a list of alternates in case someone cannot make it at the last minute, so even if the 24 is reached, you can still sign up. Once you sign up and pay the 500 T$ entry fee, you will receive a confirmation. If you sign up and pay and do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours, please contact Klepto.

QUALIFYING: As mentioned there will be 3 qualifying events in order to determine the seeds for the tournament. These will take place from 5:00 to 5:30 pm, 5:30 to 6:00 pm, and 6:00 to 6:30 pm on the 15th. The order in which you signup will determine your qualifying slot. You will be asked to pick one of the qualifying events after you sign up based on availability, so please make sure you are able to make that qualifier or you will not be allowed to race. The people who sign up first have the first choices on which qualifier they want to attend. The tournament brackets will be set up during the 6:30 to 7:00 pm timeframe and the tourney will start at 7:00 pm.

EVENT: As you know, there is a certain number of slots available for people in funzones, so everyone will not be in the zone during all the races. If you&#039;re not racing, you&#039;re welcome to move about There, but you should be on call to be coming back when needed. When it&#039;s your turn to race, you have five minutes to get back to the zone and be prepared to race or you will forfeit. We will work on having a viewing area for spectators outside the zone which will also serve as a waiting area for participants.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Up until 5:00 PM EST on August 19, you may cancel with refund.

FORMAT: As mentioned before, this will be a bracketed format with each bracket consisting of one-on-one races in a best 2 out of 3 racing format. Seeding will be done based on the qualifying events. It&#039;s simple, you win, you move on. The tournament is a single elimination event.

PRIZES: At the minimum, all entry fees will be paid back out to the top 3 racers. In addition to finishing in the top 3, prizes will also be given for fastest lap time and fastest race time. There will also be a raffle for all entrants for a random prize to be drawn at completion of the tournament. The payouts for the top 3 will be broken down by 60% to 1st place, 30% for 2nd place, and 10% for 3rd place. In addition to the entry fees, there will be more money added and possibly additional prizes.

If you have any questions or thoughts about the system or anything else, please let me know via IM or email.

  <title>In the beginning...</title>
  <link>http://thereracing.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=3</link>
<description>As many of you know, I&#039;ve been around for a long time in There and have experienced virtually everything There has to offer in terms of buggy racing. I decided after 2 years to finally make a website dedicated to racing buggies and use this site to launch several new types of buggy racing events. This site will also be used as a general racing site where people can discuss racing in our own forums, get information on upcoming events for buggy racing, and to track standings from various events. I plan to add as much to this site as possible and fill in any gaps that may be unfilled presently with other racing sites. So, stay tuned and be sure to come back and see what we have to offer.</description>
